From a legal perspective, Emschergenossenschaft and Lippeverband are two public sector entities with comparable statutory tasks. However, we have been bundling our competence for more than 90 years already, and thus represent the largest wastewater management company and operator of wastewater treatment plants in Germany. The advantages of this partnership are readily apparent: significant synergy effects thanks to more knowledge, more experience, and more economic efficiency. This enables us to perform our tasks in a particularly cost-effective manner. Above all, we share the same common objective: to create convincing ecological, technical and design solutions on the Emscher and Lippe rivers – in this region and for this region.
In the environment of the Emscher and Lippe, the demands of humans and nature are competing. Establishing a sustainable balance between these demands is our task. Living and working must be just as possible as the restoration of living, species-rich river landscapes – no simple task in a region that, without our work, would often be underwater. In the largest metropolitan area in Europe, between Dortmund and Duisburg, and in the neighbouring Lippe Region to the north, we represent modern, cost-effective water management with a wide range of tasks.
